About Our Founder
Mr. Mahesh Chandra Jain was an Armament Engineer in Defense ministry, whose love for nature was so explicit that he didn't join his parental business of Gold & Diamond jewellery, rather decided to start his own business in the year 1974 of Menthol herb cultivation and its distillation. For around 2 decades, he continued to do that natural product business. He in the year 1994 after getting acquainted of the ban on the use of AZO-dyes by Germans, decided to develop vegetable dyes. With no knowledge or research/ study material available, he faced a lot of problems in identifying pigment bearing vegetation and dyeing processes. He attended a national seminar on natural dyes organized by NHDC at Jaipur in 1989 and first international seminar organized by NHDC at Suraj Kund, New Delhi with collaboration of UNDP in 1993. Under the guidance of Mr. H.S Ansari, chief manager NHDC, Ministry of Textile and Dr. M.I.H Farooqui, Phyto-chemist Department Director, we started research and development work on eco-friendly dyes, along with renowned bio-& phyto chemists, scientists, technocrats of several technical department & laboratories of India, such as CIMAP, FRI, NBRI, and I.I.T Delhi. He participated in appropriate technology & exhibitions of NHDC, as well as workshop organized by NHDC in 1995 held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
He followed the recipes and methods suggested in different articles by vegetable dyers, like Mrs. Ann Milner, Mrs. Jenny Dean, Mr. Darrel Bailey, & others to develop natural dyed cotton fabric. So he started dyeing cotton yarn to develop a range of fabrics. Finally he succeeded in developing more then 80 colour and developed cotton fabric which were weaved on handloom in plain, checks, stripes and Jacquard kind of weaving.
